Take Your First Step Now!

Hello and Welcome to your new future.

First I need to look at the way things are. You may not immediately see the point, but bear with me and it will all become clear. What I need to get you to look at are the misconceptions and downright lies that tend to govern our lives today.

In the not-so-distant past, families gave up everything in order to achieve financial security. Perhaps you remember that attitude, perhaps you are too young to recall it. Those were the days when climbing the corporate ladder was expected, and wives and children gazed fondly at pictures of the breadwinner in order to remember whether poor, exhausted Dad had blue eyes or brown.

Large companies moved employees from one city to another, like pawns on a chessboard and, if you had any hope of climbing the ladder toward upper management positions, you packed up the wife and kids and moved on from Chicago, to Boston, to New York, to Tokyo or London.

Over the years, the divorce rate climbed, dads never saw the kids and died of heart attacks and strokes at an alarming rate. When these men retired, they felt useless and unproductive.

These men identified with their success on the job. Newly retired men found themselves wondering who they were, and why they were living with women who were complete strangers to them. And, whatever happened to those darling kids who used to live in the house?

Then women entered the workforce in earnest and joined the rat race. You only need to look at the evidence of stress related death and illness, an increase in the average number of hours worked by employees in the U.S. and around the world, skyrocketing numbers of divorces and children in single-parent families, single teenage mothers and the general decay in moral standards to realize that the rat race is alive and well.

Don't forget the number of people who are responsible for the care of aging parents. We live in a world of conveniences that was designed to give us more leisure time. But, it would seem that all the informational overload, whirring computers and media blitz has given us is more time for work.

A sixty or seventy hour working week is common. Some of us work eighty or ninety hours without batting an eyelash. After all we all know that the only way to achieve financial success is hard work and long hours!

Wrong! Hard work never made anyone rich. Now, we are beginning to realize that success isn't ALL about money, and certainly isn't all about working till you drop dead.

In today's chaotic world, it is a safe bet that you don't have enough time for work, family and friends. And, since your boss holds a tight rein on your paycheck, it is likely that your family and friends are the ones that suffer.

While every generation has a different work ethos, the desire for work/life balance has become one of the major goals of almost everyone today.

Baby Boomers are reducing work hours and many 'Thirty-Somethings' are starting their own businesses, not to make a fortune but to have more control over their lives and schedules.

A recent study done by the Families and Work Institute reported that young graduates just starting out in the workforce are choosing to turn down promotion to find a more rewarding work/life balance.

This trend is YOUR opportunity to transform your future!

Before you get started, the first thing, is to make sure that your mindset is right!

This is what I ask from you:

  • Decide what you want to achieve. Is this to be a second income to provide a few luxuries, or is it a complete change of direction?
  • Commit to following through on this course. It doesn't have to be more than 3 or 4 hours a week as long as it is REGULAR.
  • Where I suggest you do something, do it. It is for your benefit!
  • Register so you have access to extra resources. You will find links to items that can be downloaded from our Resources Vault.
  • There are also links to our paid membership site, Internet Video Tutorials. I would recommend joining, particularly if you find video a good way to learn, but it isn't essential to your success.

Why Am I Highlighting Your Mindset?

That is one of the first secrets that I am going to let you in to. It doesn't matter whether it is an online or offline business, or indeed anything else in your life that you want to achieve

You will come across it in many different guises , but the important thing is getting it right. I personally like the description "The Mental Game" which reflects that correct thinking is now recognised as an essential in every sport and endevour. No longer will you find people dismissing it as "new age Bunkum".

If you have been around the internet for any length of time you are bound to have come across Mark Joyner, author of "Mind Control Marketing". He now runs a FREE site that will help you get your mindset right. Simpleology requires that you devote 15 minbutes a day to retraining your mind. Mark Joyner used to insist that anyone who wished to hire him as a consultant worked through it. That should be a good enough recommendation for anyone.

Here Is Your 7-Step Crash Course to A Success Mindset

So what does it take to be a cut above the rest? Here are some things you can focus on that will get you off to a good start!

  • Step 1: Know your end result.

Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you'll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify what really matters. For me what changed was having a son with learning difficulties. All of a sudden I discovered that truly money only matters for the freedom it can buy you. Think more about your perfect lifestyle rather than material possessions.

This may seem tricky at first when you are broke or at a dead end. There's always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to your life simply by reassessing your wants.

  • Step 2: Know your values.

What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are integrity, security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning etc. As you set your goals for 2007 - check your goals against your values.

If the goal doesn't align with any of your top five values - you may want to reconsider it or revise it. Personally I would rather retain my personal integrity rather than use some of the methods used by some "gurus" to make fortunes.

  • Step 3: Know your needs.

Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? Do you want to be rich or would you rather be recognised?

Companies know that many people put more value on a job title than the salary that goes with it!

What drives you? So many people who live their lives without realizing their dreams end up stressed or depressed. List your top needs and plan how to meet them before it's too late!

  • Step 4: Know your passions.

You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life.

If there is something that you dream of doing, it's never too late! Obstacles like doubt and lack of money will hinder you only if you let them. If you want it hard enough you can live your dream. An astonishing number of people every year leave the rat race to follow their heart.

Most of them never look back. Fullfillment beats wealth EVERY time!

  • Step 5: Live from the inside out.

Increase your awareness of your inner power by regularly reflecting in silence. Practise sitting with an empty mind for 5 minutes a day. It's astonishing how hard it is!

Once you achieve it, it is equally astonishing how much your creativity and focus improves.

Learn to develop and trust your gut instinct.

For most of us city slickers it's hard to find peace and quiet. In my case I often drive out to the moors and sit watching the stars.

At home I sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There's sound, yes, but music can soothe the savage beast.

  • Step 6: Maximise your Strengths.

What are you best at? What special talents do you have? List three - if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands?

Myself, I excel at business concepts. Offline I made my money by setting up pubs and restuarants. I could look at any site, and know almost instinctively how to maximise the potential.

I learned very quickly to just put in a manager, as I simply haven't got the patience to run a business. As soon as I have one business up and running I want to be on to the next.

Recognize what you are best at, and concentrate on it. Use your skills to raise the cash to pay others to do what you are poor at yourself.

  • Step 7: Serve others.

You will find it in many, many books. The more people you help realize their dreams, the closer you will be to achieving your own.

When you live how you really want to, you may find you develop a sense of being part of something greater than yourself.

When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit - your essence.

The rewards are great. How many good causes would you like to be able to support? Just imagine what a difference you can make, not only to your own life, but to the lives of others.

I firmly believe that you can have anything you believe you can have! The best book I have come across that explains exactly how to explode your mental powers is Success Engineering By Phil Gosling.

You may well have seen references to discoveries in Quantum Physics that supposedly show our mind power. Well, Phil is a nuclear physicist, so can discuss that with authority!

In our next lesson we will get started with creating our online presence.

See you then...
